Alberta is an eight-year PQE maritime lawyer specialising in non-contentious ship finance matters as well as in shipping dispute resolution. Alberta’s areas of interest include ESG and the decarbonisation of the industry. Native Italian and dual-qualified in England and Ireland, Alberta has an international focus.
Alberta frequently advises buyers and sellers in ship sale and purchase transactions, through multiple jurisdictions and time zones. Recent experience includes advising UK and international counterparties on ship sale and leaseback transactions, sale and purchase of second-hand merchant vessels, related company incorporation and management arrangements.
Alberta regularly handles disputes relating to the full range of shipping contracts, advising and acting for charterers, shipowners and trading companies, with a focus on charterparties. She also assists clients with debt recovery and enforcement actions and has acted for clients in LMAA arbitration proceedings, Commercial Court cases and mediations.
Alberta attended the Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTA)’s ShipZero event in Glasgow during COP26, promoting rapid and large-scale uptake of Zero Emissions Ship Technology. Alberta is excited to see that this prompted a strategic collaboration between Ince and ZESTA, purporting to accelerate the transition to true zero-emissions shipping ahead of 2030. In her spare time, Alberta volunteers as a mentor to support the development of innovative projects in the field of sustainability, with a particular focus on ocean sustainability.

Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have increasingly been asked by our clients to advise on whether the pandemic itself or events arising out of COVID-19 amount to force majeure events, excusing one or both parties from performing all or part of their obligations under a contract.
